Day 13

We first arrived in Italy on April 10, 2012 after a long drive through the French Riviera. We managed to boost the economy in Monaco by dropping a few coins in the slots in Monte Carlo. We drove through to Italy and stopped in the first hotel we saw as it was getting late and we were very tired.

We had a flash storm that almost wiped our little hostel in Castelnuovo Magra, Italy off the mountain side. We stayed here for three days, got our laundry done and visited around the area.






Day 11 found us at Cinque Terre and we were amazed by the captivating beauty around us.





We tried to order a shared steak and this is what arrived. It was scrumptious and very expensive!



But then look at the bathroom in the place.


Our second day in Florence......

Here is the Ponte Vecchio which contains jewelry stores by the dozen all across the bridge.



Judy and Janice climbed the 465 steps to the top of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. This is the largest brick dome in the world. It was magnificent.


Here we are in our brand new Italian leather jackets!! Just couldn't resist.


And here is a replica of the Statue of David in Palazzo Vecchio in downtown Florence. The original is housed in Galleria dell'Accademia.
